Fragments of reality. Sustainable, site specific, kinetic installation

2015/2023

Fragments of Reality is a sustainable site-specific kinetic installation. It uses little mirrors and the wind to reflect the environment, the natural light during the day and the artificial light of the public lamps at night. It changes every time depending on the point of view, the wind, and the moment of the day. Sometimes it is invisible, sometimes it is full of waving flashes. It is a delicate and contemplative work, magic in its simplicity. Light, is something that was always natural until mankind managed to build artificial light, manipulating and transforming it until today. in these difficult times of climate problems and energy consumption, this work starts from three important reflections.

1. Sustainability: this work consumes 0 electricity and can be contemplated 24/24. moreover the mirrors are self-produced by the artist, and regenerated every time.

2. The rhythm of nature: the enjoyment of the work depending on the point of view the time of day, the wind, the artificial lights in the surroundings is constantly changing.

3. The perspective: intended as a reflection of the surrounding space between the invisible and the visible.
